Keating Wagner is proud to celebrate partner Melissa Sullivan on being named a 2026 Top Women honoree by Law Week Colorado, a recognition that highlights outstanding women leaders across Colorado’s legal community.
Sullivan’s path to law is anything but conventional. Raised in Philadelphia in a family where neither parent attended college, she developed a strong work ethic early, commuting up to two hours each way to attend a magnet high school. That determination would later shape a career defined by resilience, curiosity, and a commitment to helping others.
Initially drawn to education, Sullivan spent several years teaching before pursuing law. She graduated first in her class from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and began her career in trusts and estates before discovering her passion for litigation, particularly in personal injury law.
Today, Sullivan is known for her client-centered approach. In her personal injury practice, she focuses on helping individuals navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives, offering both legal guidance and a steady, compassionate presence.
“Their whole world has turned upside down. If I can take even one piece of that burden off their shoulders, that means everything,” Sullivan shared.
That perspective reflects what sets Sullivan apart, her ability to combine legal skill with genuine empathy. She describes her role as helping clients be heard, serving as both advocate and voice during challenging times.
Beyond her legal work, Sullivan is deeply committed to giving back. She has served as a board member of the Legal Aid Foundation and supports community initiatives such as “Grizzly Gives,” a fundraising effort that assists families facing serious illness or hardship. She also mentors students interested in pursuing legal careers, continuing the cycle of guidance that helped shape her own journey.
Sullivan has also been recognized by Colorado Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America, reflecting her continued excellence and leadership in the legal profession.
At Keating Wagner, we are proud to have Melissa as part of our team. Her dedication to clients, commitment to community, and passion for advocacy embody the values that define our firm.
