At Keating Wagner, our firm’s roots date back more than three decades in Colorado. We feel strongly about working to enrich the communities in which our employees and clients work and live. Throughout the year, we support many different civic efforts, including those supporting the Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program.

This year, we were once again a proud Gold sponsor of the Creating Ties Dinner in support of the Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program. The event was held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm in the Seawell Ballroom at the Denver Center for The Performing Arts. What set this evening apart from other years is that the Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program is celebrating its 40th year. The evening began with a happy hour leading up to the dinner and program, followed by dancing and live music.

The Thrive Endowment Made Possible by Keating Wagner

This year’s event brought in a record amount of donations. All monies raised during this event will benefit the organization’s Thrive Endowment. In 2020, Keating Wagner generously donated seed money to the Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Camp Program to create this endowed fund. Their endowment allows them to broaden their asks for donations and provides them with an additional level of credibility in the non-profit community. The Thrive Endowment ensures any child who has sustained a burn injury has the opportunity to attend Burn Camp far into the future.

About The Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program

Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program is an American Camp Association accredited suite of programs structured to meet the rehabilitative and psychosocial needs of children who have sustained a burn injury. It was the first residential, rehabilitative camp exclusively for burn survivors. All camp programs are provided to families at no cost. However, the cost to provide this experience to each camper is $1,650 per camper.

Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program’s mission is to provide children who have sustained a burn injury and their families the opportunity to build courage and thrive throughout their recoveries and beyond by offering inspiration, rehabilitation, and shared experiences in a safe, nurturing, and supportive community.

Thanks to many generous donations from last year’s event, including corporate partners such as Keating and Wagner, whose contributions totaled $7,500 or more in 2022, 126 participants attended Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Burn Camps program. The participant’s lives are forever changed as they continue their healing journey outside of the walls and limitations of the hospital. The trauma of a burn injury is balanced by the hope that is instilled through the camp program.

Fires Can Cause Serious Issues in Colorado

You don’t have to live in Colorado very long to understand the serious fire danger here and the risks fires pose. Fires are to blame for the loss of far too many lives and countless serious injuries, including -severe, life-changing, and life-threatening burns. As if those consequences aren’t serious enough, they can also lead to lasting emotional trauma and severe property damage and loss. The financial toll they can take on families and businesses is astronomical. Organizations like the Children’s Hospital Burn Camps Program aim to help ease the burdens of those impacted by Colorado fires, but they need community support to operate effectively.
